You’ve seen it before — the traditional tall, white, pleated chef’s hat synonymous with high cuisine. 

For thousands of years, this word referred to any brimless hat, however the French popularized using “toque” or “toque blanche” to refer to a white chef’s hat.

In addition, for many years the number of pleats in a chef’s hat signified the number of ways the chef could cook an egg, with a more-pleated hat adorned only by the most experienced and skillful of chefs.

Taking the name Toque Blanche is our way of paying homage to hardworking chefs everywhere — both in professional and home kitchens.
